Gordon Hayward Declines $34M Option With Celtics, Becomes Free Agent
Gordon Hayward has opted out of his $34 million contract with the Boston Celtics to become a free agent.
Hayward and the Celtics agreed to extend his deadline on the decision by 48 hours until after the draft. The Celtics could still conceivably re-sign Hayward as an outright free agent.
Hayward is expected to receive interest from the New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets.
The Indiana Pacers also pursued Hayward via trade.
