Windhorst: 'A Lot Of Warmth In Milwaukee Right Now' On Giannis Antetokounmpo Supermax
Giannis Antetokounmpo will be offered the supermax extension by the Milwaukee Bucks at the start of free agency, which could be the most impactful NBA storyline both this offseason and for 2021.
The Bucks already improved their roster by trading for Jrue Holiday.
\"I wonder how Giannis feels as he\'s looking at this right now, you know, what he\'s thinking about,\" said Brian Windhorst in a podcast recorded before the Holiday trade. \"Because he has about a month to decide on his supermax. I think he\'s going to decide a lot of sooner. And I think there\'s a lot of warmth in Milwaukee right now. I\'ll just leave it at that.\"
Many teams have been waiting to see what Antetokounmpo does this offseason before being too aggressive now in hopes he becomes available in 2021. If Antetokounmpo signs the supermax with the Bucks, those teams could quickly pivot elsewhere during this offseason.
\"Well, first off, there\'s a whole bunch of teams holding their 2021 game plans waiting for news out of Milwaukee,\" said Windhorst. \"Okay? And let me just say my feelings on this, because I don\'t want to get in trouble, my feelings on what may happen there have changed in the last two months. Okay? And were I teams planning on Giannis being available. I might develop my backup plan a little bit quicker.\"
